Hema Viswanathan, PhD
Hema N. Viswanathan, PhD, has 15 years of industry experience and leadership in developing and executing global value evidence generation strategies for pipeline and marketed assets in multiple therapeutic areas including neuroscience, hematology, oncology, osteoporosis, psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease. Hema most recently held the position of Executive Director, Global Therapeutic Area Head, Neuroscience at Allergan where she worked from 2016-2020. Prior to joining Allergan, Hema worked at Amgen for over 10 years and held positions of increasing responsibility within Global Health Economics. Hema also served in the HTA Center of Excellence at Amgen where she gained experience with HTA submissions in key European markets. Hema has led health economics teams to inform clinical development programs, payer strategies, and support launch readiness and execution.
Hema’s research experience encompasses retrospective and prospective observational research, indirect treatment comparisons, economic modeling, and development and validation of patient reported outcome instruments to support labeling. She is widely published in journals including Quality of Life Research, Cancer, Osteoporosis International, Contemporary Clinical Trials, Journal of Managed Care Pharmacy, Cephalagia, Headache, and American Journal of Managed Care. Hema obtained a doctoral degree in pharmaceutical economics and marketing at Purdue University’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Hema completed her Master of Science in Pharmacy Administration at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Pharmacy, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the University of Mumbai.
